Something To Think About – Real JOY

By Dennis Love

Where does a person find real joy?  Listen to what the Bible says in the following verses.

“Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious JOY.” (1 Peter 1:8)

“Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared.  This day is holy to our Lord.  Do not grieve, for the JOY of the Lord is your strength.”  (Nehemiah 8:10)

“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and JOY in the Holy Spirit.”  (Romans 14:17)

“May the God of hope fill you with all JOY and peace as you trust in Him. So that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”  (Romans 15:13)

“Shout aloud and sing for JOY, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.”  (Isaiah 12:6)

Most of us would say that the best explanation of JOY comes from the word itself by using it as an acrostic.

The J in JOY represents Jesus.

The O in JOY represents others.

The Y in JOY represents you.

Therefore, if you want to experience real JOY, put Jesus first, others next and then yourself last.

Here’s something to think about.  Let’s use another acrostic for real lasting joy.

The J in JOY represents Jesus.

The O in JOY represents zero or nothing.

The Y in JOY represents you.

According to the Bible here is the real formula for JOY.  Real JOY is found when “Nothing” comes between “Jesus” and “You.”

J—–Jesus

O—–Nothing

Y—–You

If anything is standing between you and Jesus, then your JOY will not be complete.  Real JOY is Jesus, Nothing and You!  How’s your JOY these days?
