31 Days of Repentance

Day 13:  Forgive me for doing things “halfway.”

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;” (Colossians 3:23)

Does this verse describe you?  I wish I could always answer with an excited and exuberant, “Yes!”…someone who always does things with their whole heart.  I had thought of myself as someone who “gives my all.”  But do I…really…my all?  Recently I discovered that there are times when I get in such a hurry to finish something, it ends up being a job that was done halfway or half-hearted.  If I had realized this before the task was completed, it would have actually saved time and heartache.  Once completed, this task of mine revealed many errors, made obvious because of being in a hurry.  If I had just slowed down and taken my time, there wouldn’t have been all of the extra time needed to correct a “finished product”!  Oh my…experience is a great teacher!

But oh, how THE LORD would delight for us to come to HIM with our tasks and projects and ask HIM to organize it in our minds before we ever begin, asking for HIS help every step of the way!  James 4:2 tells us, “…yet ye have not, because ye ask not.”  There is where the responsibility lies…within “me”, on “my” shoulders.  But hallelujah, GOD says in HIS Word, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  (1 John 1:9)

So, go to GOD today.  Ask HIM to forgive you for doing things halfway or half-hearted.  Ask HIM to breathe into you a fresh, new spirit of enthusiasm, as you tackle your daily tasks.

Challenge:

* Commit your heart and mind to GOD, asking for HIS help to do things to the best of your ability.  100%!  Whole-hearted!
