Praying for Healings

By Kurt Bomar

Avery Countypraying for healings

In this time of COVID 19 worries, it brings to mind what our attitude in praying for the sick should be.

1 Chron. 19:11 says “Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.”

These men were armed, trained to do battle- but they realized the results would have to be left to the Lord. They did what they could, but realized only the Lord could bring about ultimate victory.

We need to have the same attitude when we pray for the sick. I fear we are sometimes reluctant to pray for the sick because we’re worried that they won’t be healed. If you say to someone “let me pray for you” and you pray the prayer of faith and seek the Lord, you will have done what you can do and what we are encouraged to do in the Scriptures. We simply trust in God and “let the Lord do that which is good in his sight”.

If they are healed, Great! It’s a cause for celebration. If they are not, it is still pleasing in the sight of the Lord, and it will always be appreciated by the person for whom you pray.

Pray for each other, dear saints. Don’t pray generally or apologetically. Pray boldly for specific healing regarding a specific ailment. And don’t let fear quench your desire or your aggressiveness in prayer.

Selah (think about it)
