Trick or Treat on Town Square @ Burnsville Town Square
Oct 31 @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

We would like to invite you and as many groups as possible to participate in a community-wide, safe, family environment on Halloween.  From 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, October 31, the traditional trick or treating for candy will take place at local businesses and around the square.  We would like to invite the area businesses, local non-profits, and church groups to decorate their storefronts and participate in this event. If you are a business or organization that does not have a storefront downtown, you can set up in a space on the Square. We would also like to have all types of activities for children on the Square.  If you would like to plan an activity on the Square please contact us immediately so that we can plan the appropriate spaces.  This is lots of fun for the whole family!  Let us know if you want to participate by emailing or phoning your RSVP by October 20 to the Yancey Chamber of Commerce at info@yanceychamber.com or 682-7413.

TRAC Holiday Studio Tour @ Toe River Arts Center
Dec 6 – Dec 8 all-day

The Toe River Studio Tour is perhaps the largest and the longest running studio tour in the country; you will find craftspeople and artists in nearly every medium, many tops in their field and several new-to-the-tour participants.

FREE, self-guided, this adventure will lead you to some unique places situated between Mt. Mitchell and Roan Mountain. Visitors travel through valleys, past streams, across rivers, over hilltops, and experience breathtaking mountain vistas as they those many out-of-the-way studios. Meet the artists, see where they create and where they live.

TRAC sponsors a Meet-The-Artist reception at their Spruce Pine Gallery on Friday evening after the tour closes for the day. A sampling of participants will be on display geographically so one can plan a route for the rest of their journey.

Start making your reservations for your cabin in the woods for the weekend now (visit www.toeriverarts.com) for a listing of what’s available in the area.
