Getting ready for Flu season

By Miguel Cruz

Flu season is upon us and everywhere we go there are the signs up reminding us to “get our flu shot”. If you are depending on the flu shot to protect you, you better have a backup plan. Year after year the CDC comes out with a report on the effectiveness of the last years’ flu vaccine, I always read these reports with amusement and sadness because they show the effectiveness to be routinely between 10-60% effective. This means that 40-90% of the time the vaccines don’t work because you have a different strain of flu bug than the vaccine works against.

This article is not meant to be for or against vaccines, just reporting the facts to help you through all the fake news out there. If you think vaccines are right for you, then do it. I’m against doctors bullying their patients into taking vaccines against their will because the facts just don’t back up the effectiveness. By the way, all the debate about whether the flu vaccines cause you to have the flu, the vaccines will NOT give you the flu. I know we all heard about aunt Wilma who got the flu shot and the next day she was sick as dog…. What happened is that Aunt Wilma reacted to all the ingredients put into the vaccine like formaldehyde, aluminum, mercury and a host of others which are designed to activate the immune system to create the antibodies which eventually build your immunity. Aunt Wilma got “flu-like” symptoms as a result of her immune system reacting to these ingredients. The problem is, she still got sick, call it what you want, flu or no flu.  Another point of concern is that these ingredients are also toxic to the body.

Now, for those of us who are into doing all we possibly can to prevent sickness without the use of pharmaceuticals whenever possible, here is a list of some of my favorite things to have on hand. Keep in mind you should not wait until you have all the symptoms before you go out and buy these, at the first sign of a symptom is the best time to start.

Echinacea: comes in liquid or capsule. I prefer liquid, follow directions on the bottle or 1 dropper in the mouth 3x per day.

Biocidin: A highly concentrated and effective herbal liquid. 1-5 drops in the mouth 3x per day

Vitamin D3 + K2: Vitamin D is important to many functions in the body including immunity. 5000 – 10,000 units per day

Lauricidin: Made from the anti-microbial factors in pure coconut oil. Follow directions on the bottle.

Vitamin C: Everyone knows about vitamin C, take as much as you can tolerate throughout the day in intervals. If you get loose stools, your taking too much.

Argentyn 23, silver hydrosol: Silver has natural anti-viral and anti-microbial properties. This is a professionally formulated liquid that is safe for children and adults and will NOT turn you blue. 1 tablespoon 3x per day for an adult. It also comes in a spray that works great for a sore throat.

There is certainly a host of other herbal combinations you can take so this is simply a list of what I keep around and recommend to my patients. The above recommendations are not meant to be medical advice as exact dosages can vary according to individual symptoms, age, and weight. You should consult your health care practitioner who is knowledgeable about natural remedies.

One caution I like to give is being aware of the quality of the product, unfortunately, the cheaper brands are indeed of poor quality and a waste of money. I like to give any new products I recommend the litmus test of returning customers. As well as trying it myself and for my family, if a product works, then people will return for more and tell their friends and family about it to the point it sells itself. When that happens, I know I have a winner.

I hope this information will help you to have a healthy and happy winter.

God Bless
