Sovereign of God

We use words like luck, chance, and fate to describe something that happens, just out of the blue or without explanation. The problem with using these words is that we are failing to acknowledge the sovereignty of God.

God’s sovereignty just means that God completely rules over everybody and everything in the world. His authority is supreme and cannot be challenged. So if He wills to do something there is nothing in the universe that can stop Him.

In the day that we are living, it seems that the world is running out of control. Ungodly and evil things seem to be going on everywhere getting worse by the day. People are wondering where God is and why He is allowing this to continue. But what we have to understand is this, all the evil that happens is because of man’s bad decisions, but God can make it good. We may not understand how He does it. We may not see all the moving pieces that are part of His plan. Because of His sovereignty, His will, and His way, his plan will come to pass. Even when it looks like nothing is making any sense, He is in control. The things that we see taking place are just a part of a larger, well-thought-out plan to bring us where He wants us to be. God is not saying “Oh my goodness what’s going on.”

It’s like this, if you wear a watch, and someone else asks you for the time, you would look at the face of your watch because it tells the time. But the only reason that you can see the correct time on the face of the watch is that, underneath it, a series of very tiny gears and other mechanisms continually move and function to make sure the face shows the correct time. In other words, what you see exists because of what you can’t see happening. Even if you don’t see what’s underneath or understand how it all works, you must trust those tiny moving parts will always tell you the truth. When you are dealing with the sovereignty of God, you’ll never see all that there is to see. What you do see, often doesn’t make a lot of sense. That is because God is always doing more than one thing at a time. He is dealing with millions of things at the same time, even though we do not see it or understand it. We just have to place our faith in Him and know that he is taking care of everything.

The thing that God’s people have to get into their heads and their spiritual lives, is that God has got everything under control. Whether we can see it or not, or whether in this world or our lives, just remember that God Rules no matter what.

Words of Wisdom:

• There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, ‘Thy will be done,’ and those to whom God says, ‘All right, then, have it your way.’ C. S. Lewis • Each life is made up of mistakes and learning, waiting and growing, practicing patience, and being persistent. Billy Graham • Our heavenly Father understands our disappointment, suffering, pain, fear, and doubt. He is always there to encourage our hearts and help us understand that He’s sufficient for all of our needs. When I accepted this as an absolute truth in my life, I found that my worrying stopped. Charles Stanley • I believe you have to keep the theological standard high; the Lord said, ‘Be perfect,’ and Christians have to strive for that standard with all there is in them. Adrian Rogers • Because God is sovereign, He is never caught by surprise. N/A

Something To Think About:

• There is a 0.0296 chance that your child will become a professional athlete. There is a 100% chance that your child will stand before God. Get them to church. The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
