Stimulus Checks On The Way
By Brian Barrier
According to a press release on IRS.Gov, The Internal Revenue Service and the US Department of Treasury began delivering a second round of Economic Impact Payments as part of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 to millions of Americans who received the first round of payments earlier this year.
Reports on multiple social media accounts stated that many people have already received the payment which started going out yesterday. Paper checks will begin being mailed out on December 30th, 2020.
According to the IRS press release, anyone who received payments in the first round of payouts but do not receive it through direct deposit this time can expect to receive a check or a debit card in the mail. For those in this category, the payments will conclude in January.
The article states, “Eligible individuals who did not receive an Economic Impact Payment this year – either the first or the second payment – will be able to claim it when they file their 2020 taxes in 2021. The IRS urges taxpayers who didn’t receive a payment this year to review the eligibility criteria when they file their 2020 taxes; many people, including recent college graduates, may be eligible to claim it. People will see the Economic Impact Payments (EIP) referred to as the Recovery Rebate Credit (RRC) on Form 1040 or Form 1040-SR since the EIPs are an advance payment of the RRC.”
In the recently enacted COVID Relief legislation, the payments for those who qualify will be $600 for individuals and $1200 for married couples. There is an additional $600 for each qualifying child in the household.
To check the status of your payment, you can use the “Get My Payment” tool on the IRS website located here.
Remember my Christian friends, this is income and you should tithe ten percent to your church. Many churches are struggling to meet budget as folks aren’t being as faithful as they were before the pandemic began last year. You can’t outgive God!
