What’s Happen To Accountability

By Steve Williams

We live in a day where accountability is a problem. From the White House to our house people don’t think they will be held accountable. Observe our government leaders and our public officials.  They have failed to be accountable and now look at where our nation is. Even worse than our government, we need to look into Christians and our churches. Many churches and Christians have fallen into the same mindset as the world. They think others will be held accountable, but not them. Followers of Christ have a responsibility to preserve the Christian foundation of our society and stop the tidal wave of moral decay. Christians have the responsibility to protect and uphold biblical values because we will be held accountable for what we have let happen. People today may think there’s nobody keeping score, but are mistaken because God is keeping score.

Christians have failed to take seriously our responsibility. We love the many freedoms we have that are protected by our Constitution and should be grateful for the liberties we have. However, along with our wonderful rights come important responsibilities. As believers, we need to understand that we also have a responsibility to God for which we will be held accountable. Christians have a God-given responsibility to teach and defend our beliefs. There are some things I believe, believers can fight for in the political realm, like the Right to Life, the Sanctity of Marriage, lower taxes, and better stewardship of how our tax money is spent. And we also need to be better stewards of our natural resources, just to name a few. We need to preserve and protect the values that we hold so dear.

Our liberty in Christ does not give us the right to be Slackers in our walk with Christ in this world, and our duties in this world. Accountability simply means you will be held responsible for your actions. Remember God is keeping the score. I realize in the day we are living many people are not held accountable for their actions. The society we live in tries to tell people they are not responsible for their actions. They tell people you were born that way or it’s somebody else’s fault you are the way you are. Well if you want to believe that lie you will face a rude awakening one day. Because the Bible says in Romans 14:11-12 “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” So remember God’s Keeping The Score, not you.
