Where does the heart of God rest?

By Dean Honeycutt

The Bible says life is like a vapor, it is here just for a little while and then vanishes away. It is estimated that every minute 107 people die. Think about that for a moment in the time it will take you to read this article over 300 people will step into eternity. Fifty- six million people will die in one year.

The older I get the faster time goes; I was told this would happen, but I did not believe it. But it is true time flies. Over half my life is already lived and I thank God for each day I wake up and enjoy my family. God has truly been good to me and Pam. People would tell my father-in-law this getting old is for the birds, and he would say, “Thank God we are getting old.”

We should live with an urgency to share the Gospel with people because we do not know when they may step into eternity. I remember one time God pressed upon my heart to witness to a man in a laundromat, I did not listen to God, and I left. All the way home the Holy Spirit was convicting me. My heart got so heavy I turned around and went back only to find the man had left. On another occasion, God told me to witness to a young man, I hesitated for a while and then turned back and witnessed to this young man and he was gloriously saved.

Jesus said, “The fields are white unto the harvest and to pray for labors to go into the harvest.” People all around us are lost and headed toward hell, who is going to tell them about Jesus? One time I was asked to go and witness to a father who was on his deathbed. I shared with him how to be saved and place his faith in Christ. This man was saved just before he passed into eternity. Praise God he is now with his Savior.

I thank God I am saved but there are so many around me that need Jesus. If we spend more time praying and are concerned about the lost than we do arguing over translations and name tags just think about what we could do for the Lord. Ask yourself where does the heart of God rest. Does it rest with our personal preferences or the salvation of those walking in darkness? That is a no-brainer God’s passion is the glorification of His Son Jesus Christ. John 10:27–29 27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”

To God be the glory,  great things He has done,
