Battle Plan

When we think about armor, we often get an image of a mighty warrior on the battlefield equipped with gear to protect them from the enemy.  The Bible teaches us that we are also in battle, a spiritual battle.  Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”.

I think we all can agree that we are facing a battle in these present times, as we have never experienced.  Just as soldiers protect themselves, we as Christians need to protect ourselves from the spiritual battle that we face.  God’s word teaches us that we must have a battle plan and have our armor in place to be victorious.  Ephesians 6:14 says “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness.”

By faith, I must put on the belt of truth.  I know that God is a sovereign God that knows everything about me.  He knows my strengths and my weaknesses and will deliver me from my enemy. The truth is that I am a child of the King and nothing can separate me from His love and mercy.  He has a purpose for my life.  I will not allow the enemy to rob me of God’s truth and purpose for my life.

I want to put on the breastplate of righteousness to guard my heart against anything that may be impure and separate me from communion with God.  I must guard my heart and emotions to defeat the enemy and uplift the name of Jesus.

Ephesians 6:15, “And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.”  We must be available to go where God guides us.  Although it may be uncomfortable, we as God’s children must be obedient to His calling.  Slow down and ask God to guide you to the places that you can encourage and shine the light of His presence.

Ephesians 6:16, “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked”.  My faith is found only in Christ Jesus.  With God, I can do all things.  Declare victory, because regardless of the circumstances ahead we have the promise that the battle is won and the victory is His.

Protect your mind with the helmet of salvation.  Satan wants to bombard your mind with lies, evil thoughts, doubt, and fear.  With the protection of the helmet and saturated with the goodness of God we can overcome the negative thoughts that the adversary tempts us with.

He has also given us a sword, His Holy Word.  A roadmap, a gift, a weapon so powerful that it can defeat Satan’s strongest attack.  God’s word gives us comfort, teaches us hope, and defends us during battle.  Each day that God allows us to live, this world becomes eviler.  Nevertheless, I have hope and a battle plan.  I choose to follow God and equip myself with the armor that He has provided.  Although the world may think I am peculiar, I rejoice knowing that I serve a Savior that has promised to deliver me home soon.  I am chosen!  He has allowed me and you to represent Him to a lost and dying world.

My prayer is that others may see Jesus in me and have the desire to accept Him as their savior too.  We as Christians have a job, to spread the word and win souls before the return of Christ.  As we celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas, let us remember that the babe was sent here to fulfill a purpose.  He will return to receive His children.  Let us work until Jesus comes winning souls and ministering to the lost.  If we devote our lives to serving Christ, Satan will attack. But God has given us the armor to protect ourselves and preserver.  What a wonderful gift that God has given us, salvation.  What is your battle plan?  Are you willing to prepare yourself for battle and seek God’s purpose for you?
