Celebrate the Truth

America’s Birth

America’s birth is inspiring and a reason for national pride.

Woodrow Wilson once commented that if a nation doesn’t remember what it was yesterday, it won’t know what it is today or what it’s trying to do.  If we don’t know where we’ve come from or what we’ve been about, it’s futility.

We must understand the heartbeat of our founding fathers and teach our children.  Compare America’s birth to a child developing in the womb and being born.

The First Colonies

The colonies had been functioning separately from England and had become like married couples who leave father and mother and go on to create a new family unit.  But, instead of the parent country’s grasp becoming looser, it tightened.  And the colonies, like new parents-to-be, began to hope, dream, and plan for a future with a new birth of freedom.

When on July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed, it had not come about by wild-eyed men with selfish ambitions; but, those of honor and means who sacrificed everything for liberty.

When at last the new nation was born, extraordinary celebrations exploded and they continue with national pride to this day.

Yet, right now an indescribable sense of sorrow clouds the landscape as we no longer celebrate the truth.

How it is Today

We seem to be in denial of the very real displays of the deep and abiding faith in God carved and proclaimed in our nation’s Capital.  Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are being replaced by a culture of death that mocks personal liberty.  How can one pursue happiness when the very foundation is cracking beneath our feet?

God Almighty gives and sustains life.  He blessed and made America a world leader.  Yet He is viewed as an ogre to be removed from public life.

As a nation, we have given, lent, sent, and built up.  But for several decades we have borrowed, spent, and mortgaged our children’s futures – tearing down the pillars which support our beliefs.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord

The United States of America was born through the grace and purpose of the God of the Bible.  The Bible says in Psalm 33:12, NIV, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”

Even knowing this truth, headlines prove we have misplaced our trust.

Let’s not wait a moment longer to place our trust where it belongs and seek His face, turn from wickedness, and receive forgiveness and healing for our land.

God is and always has been our only hope.  Let’s celebrate America’s birthday in truth.  Selah

Illumination

“…One nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all.”

A celebration of freedom illuminates the night

As a dazzling thunder flash bursts into the inky sky.

Let’s be a colorful illumination of God’s light  ~

sparkling and shimmering in the darkness.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may

see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:16
