Terry King - Burke United Christian Ministries Volunteer of the year

Terry King

Mr. King has been a dedicated volunteer serving in various roles at BUCM for three years. Weekly, he travels around the county to pick up donated clothing from blue collection bins placed by the ministry. Terry provides critical support to our homeless neighbors who are clients of BUCM’s Matthew 25 Center by driving people to medical appointments, the social security office, and the DMV. Terry is a designated buyer for BUCM and assists in purchasing and picking up food from the Second Harvest Food Bank as well as volunteering in the warehouse and thrift store weekly.

Terry is no stranger to having a servant’s heart; in addition to his work at BUCM, he also volunteers for the Disabled American Veterans Association and provides transportation to the Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center in Black Mountain and the Veterans’ Affairs Clinic in Hickory. King also proudly served in the United States Air Force in Vietnam and is a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He and his wife, Susan, are members of Summit Community Church in Morganton. They have four beautiful children and five grandchildren they cherish.
