Do We Have Guardian Angels?

By Dennis Love

The Bible gives believers a wonderful promise in Hebrews 1:14. It says; “That angels are ministering spirits sent forth to minister to those of us who are heirs of salvation.”  This simply means that if you are a Christian, you have one or more angels assigned directly to you.  These angels are the ones that we refer to as guardian angels.  So, the answer to the question “Do we have guardian angels” is YES we do.  Notice that the unsaved person doesn’t have them, but God has provided them for His people.  In Matthew 18:10, Jesus said, “Take heed that you despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, that in Heaven their angels do always behold the face of My Father which is in Heaven.”  This verse specifically declares that children have guardian angels.  Jesus Christ gives a strong warning concerning little children.  He said, “Don’t despise the little ones.”  He is reminding us that they are surrounded by strong protectors.  It is proof positive that God gives to His people guardian angels.  Perhaps you can recall a moment in your life when you received help, or some kind of guidance, or some kind of protection that was beyond human explanation.  I could share several instances in my life, and if you will think about it, so could you!  The Bible says in Psalm 34:7 that; “The angel of the Lord camps round about them that fear Him, and He delivers them.”  The word “camps” or “encampeth” means “to pitch a tent and stay.”  Therefore, God has promised His people that we have an angel standing right next to us!

Isn’t that a wonderful promise!  Your guardian angel is not cruising over you at 30,000 feet.  He isn’t checking on the conditions in South Africa or Europe.  Your guardian angel is standing right next to you at this very moment.  In fact, you are more protected than the President of the United States when he is surrounded by his secret service.  Now maybe you are thinking, I am not that important.  I am not the President.  No, you are not, but you are a Child of the King.  You may not be a ruler, or an emperor, or the Pope.  But you are next of kin to the great I Am!  God is right now watching over you and protecting you!  As long as you walk this earth, your guardian angel will walk with you.  They are ministering spirits sent forth to minister to those of us who are heirs of salvation.

In my opinion, that’s something wonderful to think about!
