Read the Bible in One Year and Leave a Legacy For Life

I have written on this before, but it bears repeating. As we head into another year, let me give you a wonderful suggestion for a gift that will be of immense value to your loved ones by the end of the year.

Consider buying and reading a “One Year Bible”. It is the whole Bible broken down into bite-size portions. Every day there is a section from the OT, NT, Psalms, and Proverbs. By spending 15 minutes a day you will read the whole Bible in a year!

But don’t stop there. Consider dedicating the Bible to your child, grandchild, or loved one and focus on them as you read it. Then, when you have read your passage for each day, underline or highlight a verse for that day that may have meaning or relevance to your loved one and write a note in the margin for them. Perhaps a word of encouragement, appreciation, warning, or just a memory.

I have done this for my five children and the Lord always gave me something –every time, every day.

If you do this, you can leave a legacy to your children/grandchildren that they will cherish more than any physical gift you leave behind.

You can start your journaling on whatever day of the year you get the Bible. But if you start early enough, by around Christmas time 2022 you will be able to hand them a present that they will treasure forever; a book that proves you thought about them every single day for a whole year. What would you give if your parents did that for you? This can be the start of a wonderful family tradition.
