Seeing Wonders In 2022 – Joshua 3:5

In the third chapter of Joshua, Israel is about to cross over the Jordan River and enter into the land of Canaan.  Forty years earlier, Joshua and Caleb had assured the Jews that they were well able to go into the land and possess it.  However, the people said; “we are not able.”  Only a few said we can take this land if we will take God at His Word.  The majority said; “we are not able!” Sadly, they went with the majority and wandered in the wilderness for forty years.

Now, as we come to the third chapter of Joshua, the children of Israel are about to enter a new land with sights they had never seen before.  So, Joshua tells them in v5, “Tomorrow, the Lord is going to do wonders among you.”  Joshua 3:5 says; “And Joshua said unto the people; sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”  It is my prayer that 2022 will be a year of wonders for you! God promised His people that He would do wonders among them.  I believe that promise is still good for His people today.  I want this New Year to be a year of wonders for you and the church.  In the Christian life, we are either an overcomer, or we are being overcome.

In the Christian life, we are either a victor or a victim.  Were you an overcomer in 2021, or were you overcome?  Were you a victor in 2021, or were you a victim?  Did you move forward in your Christian life in 2021, or did you move backward?  As we enter into a New Year, please understand this Biblical truth.  God did not save us to make statues out of us, and to put us on exhibition.  He saved us to make soldiers out of us, and to move us forward by faith to claim our rich inheritance in Jesus Christ.  Moses said it well in Deuteronomy 6:23; “He brought us out….that He might bring us in.”  God brought His people out of the bondage of Egypt so that He could bring them into Canaan so that they could begin experiencing new wonders and new blessings day by day.  God has brought us too out of the bondage of sin.  WHY?  He has brought us out….that He might bring us in!  He has brought us out of the bondage of sin so that we might experience new wonders and new blessings day by day.

Did you hear about the patrolman who pulled over a car that was weaving all over the highway?  He discovered that the driver was a preacher.  He immediately detected a certain smell in the car.  “Preacher, what’s in that bottle on your seat beside you?”  “That’s water, officer.”  “Well, could I see it please?”  He took the bottle and smelled it and said; “Preacher, this is not water, it’s wine.”  The preacher began shouting, “Praise the Lord!  Glory to God in the Highest, He’s done it again!”  I’m ready to see Him do the wonder of turning people’s wine into water!  If He turned water into wine, then He can also turn someone’s wine into water.  I’m ready to see Him do the wonder of filling His house to overflowing once again!  I’m ready to see Him do the wonder of getting His people excited over worship!  I’m ready to see Him do the wonder of getting His people up and moving forward once again!  I’m ready to see Him do the wonder of moving His people to GET UP, GET OUT, and GET BEHIND the blood-stained banner of the Lord Jesus Christ, and begin possessing the land that is spiritually ours.  2022 can be a year of wonders if we will simply take God at His Word.  WE NEED TO SEE SOME WONDERS AGAIN.  Let’s make this New Year a year of wonders!
