Temple Maintenance

By Dr. Miguel Cruz

Yancey County

“Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  For ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians, 6:19,20 KJV

I am proposing a series of articles dedicated towards the maintaining of the temple of the Holy Ghost, our bodies. First and foremost, I believe is our spiritual health. As far as the physical body is concerned, we can include topics concerning diet, exercise, maintaining a healthy nervous system, mental health and keeping our brain stimulated.

This month I would like to start off with our spiritual health.

Psalms 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God:”

How often are you still enough to hear the voice of God within you? In this age of technology, life is moving so fast that many of us are running out of day before we get everything done. Unfortunately, our time with God seems to suffer the most. I can only speak for myself, but ever since I made the time early in the morning to read my bible, and be still to meditate on those words, my days have gone by better. And if for some reason I don’t, it’s just not a good day.

Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”  KJV

How are your thoughts during the day? Are you constantly reviewing all your problems? Are you having imaginary arguments? Medical research has shown that such thoughts can make you chronically ill. How do you renew your mind? By spending time with God.

Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things”. KJV

During the day, whenever I find myself with thoughts of despair, anger or anything else I would consider un-godly, I think on this verse and transform my mind with thoughts of things just and pure and of good report. It takes practice and training but with time you will see it works.

I wanted to keep this short and useable. Any thoughts or questions can be sent to Dr. Cruz at chiromac2000@gmail.com
