Tempted by God? No, Impossible!

About 6 years ago, a part of the verse in The Lord’s Prayer found in Mathew 6:13 & Luke 11:4, was up for revision by the leader of the worldwide Roman Catholic Church. The verse in question was “and lead us not into temptation”.

Run the storyline in your internet search engine should you want a review, CBN has it; (“Why the Pope says “The Lord’s Prayer has a mistake in it”.)

The purposed revision of Mathew 6:13 “do not let us fall into temptation”.

Since the Wiclif Bible, the year 1380, Mathew 6;13 as documented “and lead us not into temptation” can be found in all major English Bible Translations of the Lord’s Prayer, including the authorized King James Bible; year 1611. That’s over 600 years of the Lord’s Prayer as recorded in Mathew 6:13 “and lead us not into temptation”.

Genesis 22:1; “and it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt (Strong’s # H5254) Abraham, and said to him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am”. God tested Abraham to see if he would slay his only son for a burnt offering to God. Just before Abraham was about to kill his son, an Angel of the Lord stopped him and God provided a ram for the burnt offering instead of Abraham’s son, Genesis 22:13.

The Hebrew word for tempt in this verse Gen. 22:1 is (Strong’s # H5254) which applies to test, try, prove, assay, put to the proof, or test. God tries, tests, or proves mankind by adversity to prove their faithfulness and love for Him. Mankind tries to tempt God Almighty when they attempt to test God’s power and ability as in Psalm 78:18, “and they tempted (Strongs # H5254) God in their heart by asking meat for their lusts.”

1 Peter 4:12, “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you”. “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love Him”, James 1:12.

God draws (John 6:44) the child of God (by His Spirit witnesses, that we are children of God) to love Him. God never uses sin or temptation as a test. Mankind’s temptation to sin is the work of the devil, the “Tempter” (Mathew 4:3). As the child of God is being tested by God Almighty for faithfulness, to love and obey Him through various hardships, Satan the Tempter, is right there in his demonic spirit (an angel of light, 2 Corinthians 11:14) dogging the true believer to sin.

To be “dogged” is an expression of having tenacity and persistence, a tireless ambition directed at a particular result; “the dog always gets his bone”. Mankind is dogged by Satan throughout their lifetime to cultivate sin in someone’s life.  Satan offers a variety of temptation addictions, powers, and worldly lusts which are absolutely laser-focused on sin dependance.

Jesus was dogged by Satan three times; in the wilderness; on a high point of the temple, and up on a mountaintop. Satan used his full powers of temptation against Jesus to get Jesus to worship him. “Then Jesus said unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve”, Mathew 4:1-11.

The following scriptures must come into serious scrutiny and review before any translation corrections are made to God’s Holy Word, the Bible. 2 Peter 1:20 -21, “knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scriptures is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of men: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

A review of The Lord’s Prayer, Mathew 6:13 “And lead us not into temptation”, is justified in The Lord’s Prayer by the same verse, “but deliver us from evil”.

Mathew 6:13, “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen”.

James 1:13-16 “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man. But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed”.

Revelation 22:18-19:  God Almighty will destroy the self-assurance of any man attempting to change God’s Holy Word. “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book”.

“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love Him”, James 1:12.
