The Age of Educated Ignorance

We are supposed to be living in the age of education and information. The unlimited access that modern man has to knowledge is quite amazing. At the touch of a keyboard or phone screen, one can access just about anything on any topic. The tools that you and I have access to have changed since we were kids going to the library to check out books on subjects. Remember checking out all those books to help complete a research paper or project?

The ability to further one’s education has also changed. Most regions around us have community colleges that are very affordable to just about anyone of any age who wants to earn a degree. Students can even attend what is called early college and already be working towards or have a degree when they leave high school! Scholarships are available to help young people go to college. We have grants, loans, online classes, on-campus classes, hundreds of institutions for higher education, etc, etc. The resources for education are almost limitless. With all this knowledge available, one would think things in this world would get better! But every time I watch the news or listen to a politician I realize that our world is full of educated idiots. One can have several degrees of higher learning but still be oblivious to the truth. The problem seems to be wisdom (common sense) not knowledge. Wisdom is the ability to use the knowledge that one has gained in a discerning way that benefits one’s self and those around them. Children, our world is in trouble!

The issue in today’s world is the fact that man is educating himself without seeking the wisdom of his Creator. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding”. Proverbs 9:10 We are told to trust the science on climate change or covid but ignore basic biology when it comes to gender and homosexuality/lesbianism. For the most part, it’s the same highly educated “scientist” who promotes it all.

For example, just today I read a news article about where a state has passed a bill that keeps biological males from competing against females in sports. A journalist asked the governor about him signing the “controversial” bill. He replied, “There’s nothing controversial about this bill. We know the difference between a man and a woman in our state!”

In our world, one can choose to be one of many genders or even no gender at all. “Non-binary” it is called. There are reports of children identifying as an animal in the classroom and school boards are trying to force teachers to go along with the nonsense, even to the point of placing litter boxes in the classroom to accommodate this foolishness. We are the only species on the earth that ignores biology on these subjects. Homosexuality/lesbianism is promoted by college professors as normal regardless of the science. Politicians and news media celebrate it all and belittle and ridicule anyone who disagrees with the “science”. Those who are supposed to be the most highly educated among us are the ones who ignore the very educational principles they claim to uphold. The issue is not the education that one has in their head, but the sin that one has in their heart.

Paul wrote to Timothy concerning the last days in which you and I are living: “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despiser of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God: having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, EVER LEARNING, AND NEVER ABLE TO COME TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH.”  2 Timothy 3:1-7

The last days are characterized by highly educated people (ever learning) who despite their education cannot discern what is right and common sense because of sin in their hearts. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7

Education apart from the wisdom that our Creator gives will always turn into sin and ungodliness and blindness to common sense. The only hope for this world is Jesus.

John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.”

John 8: 31-32 “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

When we come to know the truth in Jesus, then we will be spared from this age of educated ignorance!

Just telling the truth,

Preacher Chris
