BREAKING – National Day of Prayer Event a “GO” in Mitchell County!
By Brian Barrier
Although due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak and government-ordered shutdown of most all public gatherings and events, a local coordinator has found a way to keep the “Good News” and the National Day of Prayer in our community this year.
Monica Kritz, the Mitchell County Coordinator for National Day of Prayer, has partnered with radio station WTOE in an effort to make this the largest National Day of Prayer event in the history of Mitchell County.
The National Day of Prayer is a day set aside for communities around the United States to gather and pray for our nation, state and local leaders and situations. Although this year will be much different, it could turn out to be the largest attendance in history because most people have been ordered to stay home except for essential activities. Access to this event will be open to many who were not able to be in attendance in person over the past few years. Also, many who wanted to be there in person but were embarrassed to be seen at a public event will be tuning in to hear from God! Perhaps our Lord is providing people the necessary time and opportunity to tune in to WTOE on AM 1470 or listen live at HERE.
The 2020 National Day of Prayer for Mitchell County will take place on Thursday, May 7th, 2020 starting at 11:00 a.m. Again, it will be streamed live at WTOE online and also radio station AM 1470. The theme for this year will be, “Pray God’s Glory across the earth”. In preparation for the event, you are asked to read Habakkuk 2:14. The event will include exclusive speakers, music and of course, special time of prayer.
Kritz had the following message for the community, “Wherever you are, stop for a few moments and listen and pray with us…this is for individuals, for our town and county, for our state, and for our nation! Please help us spread the word…share this information with everyone you know! Our nation is in distress, and we need the power of God to intervene in our situation! Of course, we must do our part…we need to repent and turn away from our sin and call on GOD to forgive us and heal our nation. Please, please, heed this call to pray! And tell others”!
*** We are asking everyone to tie red, white, & blue ribbons on your car antenna. Tell others about this as well, in honor of the National Day of Prayer 2020. ***
I think we can all agree that we are in need of God more than ever in these unprecedented times. God clearly told us:
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”. 2 Chronicles 7:14. To God be the glory!!
