For Immediate Release

You may recognize the words “for immediate release” from the Mitchell, Avery, and Yancey Health Department COVID-19 daily updates. The daily updates from the Mayland Health Department inform us of the new COVID-19 cases in our counties. I am so grateful since the time the health department started informing us of cases, we have maintained a 98% to 99% survival rate. This is something to praise God for.
It saddens us that the US has surpassed 200,000 deaths associated with the coronavirus. It also saddens us that thousands upon thousands have died of cancer, abortion, heart attacks, and drug overdose. The point being something out there is eventually going to get all of us. The Bible says Hebrews 9:27 (KJV 1900) 27” And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”
I am not going to go chase the virus down, but I realize death comes to all people and the Bible teaches me that God is ultimately in control. He is the one who gives life and takes life. When the Bible speaks of God being in control of life and death I do not want to be misunderstood. The Bible teaches “the wages of sin is death” we live in a fallen world and death and evil are a part of this fallen world. God is not and cannot be associated with sin or evil. Our bodies are created for this earth, but they cannot live forever in a fallen world. In a fallen world the body will fail. Death will come it may be our heart, may be our lungs, or it may be old age. Life is like a vapor it is here today and gone tomorrow.
Genesis 2:7 (KJV 1900) 7 “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Genesis 3:19 (KJV 1900) 19 “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”
However, our spirits are made for eternity. That is why Adam and Eve were prevented from eating of the tree of life. God is a spirit and God is eternal and we are created in the image of God. However, our image is corrupted by sin and therefore subject to sins debt and that is death. So how do we live forever in a body that will fail us?
Our spirit needs to be made alive. The only way to be made alive and live forever is to have the One who conquered death, hell and the grave living inside of us, and that is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:22 (KJV 1900) 22 “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”
So “For Immediate Release” Thank the Lord Jesus Christ who came to earth to die on the cross for your sin and your salvation.
Folks, our nation is in a mess, and we are at a crossroads. This election is crucial for the direction of our nation and our moral compass. Our nation is going down a path of destruction. The Bible says Proverbs 14:34 (KJV 1900) 34 “Righteousness exalteth a nation:”
But sin is a reproach to any people.
What can we do? We can do what the Bible tells us to do. Repent of our sin and turn to God. When Israel was in the crosshairs of God’s judgment Israel had to humble herself before God and repent. We need to do the same as a nation. Second, All Lives Matter especially the child in the womb. Do everything we can to see Roe v Wade overturned. Third, uphold the family. The family and marriage are under attack. God created them male and female. Gender is determined at conception. Fourth, support your church and the freedom to gather and to worship the Creator of heaven and earth. Fifth, Back the Blue. Law enforcement is God designed and without it there is lawlessness.
I cannot tell anyone how to vote but as for me and my family, we will vote for the platform that has the convictions closest to the Bible. We will vote for candidates who want to protect the life of the baby in the womb, who recognize God ordained marriage between a man and a woman, and who protect the rights of Christian churches and worship.
God bless you and your family. Pray and seek the Lord at this most critical time in our nation. Love others as Christ loves them and seeks the salvation of all people.
