How Firm is Your Foundation?

Many of you are familiar with the parable about the wise man and the foolish man. Of course, we know the wise man found solid ground (rock) to build his house. Knowing that the storms would rage and the wind would blow; he wanted to be sure his home would continue to stand. The foolish man instead, decided to build his house in the sand allowing the foundation to wash out from under him. What is God’s instruction in this parable? I think He is trying to teach us that we all need a firm spiritual foundation to withstand the storms of life. We all know that we face financial, emotional, and relational storms daily. Where does this firm spiritual foundation come from? A firm foundation comes from having a relationship with Jesus Christ. I believe it is essential to have prayer, praise, and worship, and the word of God to strengthen and build a firm spiritual foundation. A foundation that can weather the storms! When embracing these essentials into your daily walk with Christ, you will feel the presence and power of God sustaining you. We are facing uncertain times with an abundance of storms surrounding us, but we have unstoppable strength and power with God as our fortress. The world wants us to feel defeated and hopeless. But we have hope…despite the deception of this world. God is still saving, moving, and preparing to take his church home soon. The Bible teaches us in Psalms 11:3, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” Satan prides himself in destroying the foundations of Christians. If our strength is sustained in Christ, Satan has no power. We want Christ to rule our lives and direct our paths. Strengthen your spiritual foundation daily! Don’t allow the events of this crazy world and the lies of the adversary destroy your foundation. Stay close to the Savior seeking His righteousness and favor in your life. How strong is your foundation? Does it consist of Jesus Christ, His teachings, His blessings, and the presence of the Holy Spirit? Is your foundation firm enough to weather the storm and await the coming of the Master? 1 Corinthians 3:11 says, “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ”.
