Not Your Eyes Only

The idea for this installment of Todd’s Techy Tips hit me like a ton of bricks about a week and a half ago. The odd thing is that it is something so obvious, I feel like I should’ve seen it sooner. If you follow Heartbeat Christian News at all, especially this article, you know how much teaching we’ve done on the insane amount of time and focus that smartphones consume for the individuals who own them. But what the Lord revealed to me is how much of their time, if their own phone wasn’t enough, is spent observing things on their friends and family’s phones. God detests idols which are anything you put before Him. Whether it be spouse, friends, family, kids, or any other thing.
So as if the idolatry of smartphones for the individual wasn’t at epidemic proportions, it’s even worse overall because of even more attention that it pulls from those around them. The result is that the pandemic of smartphone idolatry is worsened by the even more sinister influence it has on other people besides their owners. Why is that important? Because God Almighty is the One Who showed me and also Who instilled in me to write this article for 9 years! Now God is not so much upset with lost souls who have never made a commitment to Him and called themselves Christians. However, this article is for all of you who claim to be Christians. It’s hard enough as Christians to keep ourselves from the typical things that become idols. But smartphones are the absolute worst. Some of you may think “Well, the whole world is doing it.”, but if you claim to be a Christian, you are without excuse.
It is worth reinforcing this one fact. The moment you open your mouth and claim to be a Christian, God begins to hold you accountable for all the standards He expects of His people from Genesis to Revelation. He expects you to be obedient to as many of His commandments as you do understand and actively learn how to become more obedient to what you don’t already know. God’s standard is strict and always has been. Even more strict since the Holy Ghost came down from heaven and the New Testament church began. If your smartphone is an idol to you and you are allowing that idol to influence others in the same way, then you adding even more ire from the Lord against you. The word of God is about 75% teaching on His wrath and a great part of that chastening results from idolatry.
Apparently, Christians don’t take any heed to the warnings God has me print in this article but you need to take a closer look at the world around you. Technology is one of the key factors being used to take your freedom away. It’s the greatest source of likes and disinformation with no real way to discredit what isn’t true. Smartphones have stolen the minds of almost every teenager in any developed country. The time of their lives when their minds are most impressionable as they develop into adulthood. My former pastor was a true prophet of God and he prophesied years ago that the time we live in would be a battle for the mind. For most, the battle is lost in nearly every age bracket. It’s not just teenagers whose smartphones are idols but many adults as well. What makes them so addictive is they contain everything that our carnal minds can’t get enough of. And they go with us everywhere we go. By us, I mean anyone who owns one because I do not.
We’ve launched the nationwide expansion plan for Heartbeat Christian News as of February 20, 2023. If everything goes as I envision it and the money is ever sufficient enough, I plan on starting a wireless company which will be called ‘Basic’. We’ll manufacture nothing but basic phones and our marketing strategy will be “Free Your Mind, Get Back to Basic”. I believe it will be a huge success. I’ll close on a very bold note. If you are a Christian and you have a smartphone, you better seek God diligently for the truth concerning them and be willing to trade yours in for a basic phone or you are in danger of hellfire! Is that bold enough for you?
