Seeing, Invisible Things

Most important is the fact that being born blind, or any other physical disability, has no disadvantage whatsoever regarding salvation by our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Understanding that the Bible is a spiritual book, filled with invisible images which must be seen with our mind’s bodily eye, to discern, not with our physical eyes. Jesus cures many infirmities and plagues. The physically blind are healed, and spiritually see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf are physically healed and spiritually hear, the dead are raised, and to all the gospel of salvation through Christ is preached, Mat 11:5.
John 9:39, “And Jesus said, for judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.”
Only by being “born again” of incorruptible seed, (seed of Christ Jesus, Gal. 3:16) by the word of God, can mankind spiritually see the Kingdom of God, John 3:3. “Set your affection [Strongs #G5426 have understanding, be wise] on things above, not on things on earth”, Colossians 3:2.
A father’s loving teachable moment helps his young son climb an apple tree. While the young teen climbs, the father *spots his son (* stands under, ready to catch him if he falls). The boy picks two apples, way at the top, and comes down safely. Walking the narrow path back to the car, the son follows the father and they eat their apples together for lunch. The son soon bites into the core of the apple and says, “Dad, look at all the seeds”, His Dad replies, “Do you see the trees in the seeds?
Teaching the spiritual depth of God’s Word helps someone to see the “trees in the seeds”, and God Almighty, the Creator of the seeds.
Romans 1:20 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse”. Psalm 17:8, “Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow [protection and defense] of thy wings”. Can you see the shadow of God’s wings in your life?
Do Christians confidently understand that for the Living God to be seen, that’s impossible? Only a representation of God, or His Son, example-Jesus [the rock], can be seen by the human eye; or seen by the mind’s eye, in the gospel of scripture is possible. Faith is a conviction of truth that God exists and is the creator of all things we hope for. Also, “Faith is the evidence of things not seen,” Heb. 11:1. We should not have to struggle to understand 1 Peter 1:8. “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory”.
A common earthly object found everywhere can be easily identified by anyone. The entire focus of the bible, both (Old & New Testament), can be seen in this common object. Only with the mind’s eye of a Christian (all are bible students), they can see what the totality of bible scripture is invisibly represented in this verse, Exo.17:6 Like the story above, the dad asks his son “Can you see the trees in the seeds”, and God Almighty the creator of the seeds? Those who have been (spiritually) blinded by the god of this world (2 Co 4:4), can only see the common object found everywhere.
What’s the common object everyone can see, and the invisible things which can be only spiritually seen as a student of the bible; perhaps even at times called a stumbling stone? The Rock! Exodus 17:6 “Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel”.
Exodus 17:6, A brief deep dive into the scriptures as 2 Timothy 2:15 proclaims. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”.
Exodus 17:6, “Behold, I [Moses] will stand [to be appointed] before thee upon the rock [God Almighty and Son Jesus] in Horeb [Mt. Sinai where the law of God was given to Moses] and thou shalt smite [pierce the side, stricken Jesus] the rock [Jesus] and there shall come water [source of living water, Jesus, Salvation, Judgment] out of it, that the people [mankind] may drink [the Gospel]. And Moses [prophet/lawgiver/writer/leader of the OT exodus] did so in the sight of the elders [Jacob’s decedents] of Israel [ the Israelites]”.
Those that love and praise the LORD, hate evil, they are the souls of the saints, Psalm 97:10. Perhaps we need more faithful men in the army of heaven, and the army of soldiers here on earth. They must be willing to teach others, “good soldiers of Jesus Christ”, 2 Timothy 2:3; who have tongues that speak all the words of God’s commandments and righteousness.
How do we identify these soldiers, what do they look like? Do they have any identifying characteristics we can see? They must have the high “praises of God in their mouth”, and look for that “two-edged sword, the word of God, in their hand”, Psa.149:6. What garments do they have on, white garments for their holy robe covering of themselves, or filthy garments of dark shame? Surely you can see that “righteous breastplate of faith and love”. You can’t possibly miss that helmet on their head, that hope of salvation through Christ Jesus, Isa. 59:17.
Finally, brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, be very sure to carry your lamp at all times. Psalm 119:105 “NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path”. Colossians 1:16 “for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible,whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him”.
