The Audacity of Evil
By Bruce Cannon
The Oxford Dictionary defines audacity as “rude or disrespectful behavior; impudence.” How many times have you or I over the last years said, “I never thought I would see the day” and then we would speak of something that had recently been reported on the news or had just happened. I find myself saying that over and over! And yet Biblical prophecy tells us that this will be the normal occurrence just before the Lord’s Return for His church. In Matthew 24:6-12 Jesus teaches, “And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
As I write this article the eastern seaboard of the United States is experiencing a gas shortage because of a hack in the Colonial Pipeline by a group known as “DarkSide”. (What a fitting name for a group to do such a thing!) I am also reading about attacks upon Jerusalem because of rockets being fired by Palestinian groups at them. COVID-19 is still causing major problems all over the world. The economy of the U. S. is in greater shambles than ever seemingly, at least somewhat, because of financial handouts and people refusing to work. Businesses are having to close their doors for lack of employees. Lawlessness is continuing around the nation because of racial unrest. Black Lives Matter continues to spew out its ungodly propaganda. Law enforcement remains under attack. Our borders are extremely insecure. Many, including myself, believe America is in a state of Civil War because of all of the factions and “infighting” within our borders.
And yet, we have not seen the end of the troubles that are to come. In Matthew 24:8 Jesus said, “All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Our nation has turned away from God and He is turning His back on us! Without His protection, which has been lax because of our rebellion as a nation, there is no telling how many more times we will say, “I never thought I would see the day…”
Certainly, we can see the fulfillment, before our very eyes, of the prophetic Scripture above. Christ is coming! He’s coming for a people who are watching and waiting for Him! Jesus said in Matthew 24:43, “But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.” Don’t get caught off guard! Heed this preacher’s warning! Evangelize your household! Make sure your circle of acquaintances knows Jesus!
As the song we used to sing says, “People get ready, Jesus is coming! Soon we’ll be going home. People get ready, Jesus is coming to take from this world His own.” Amen!
