DAY OF THE LORD #3 (1 THESSALONIANS 5:3-4):
We are in the last chapter of 1 Thessalonians that zeros in on “living right,” and the impetus to do so is, of course, the Lord’s return.
We have already seen an overview from today to timelessness, endlessness, or eternity in v. 1-2.
As we look at point #1, the destined day and new practical application, we can all focus on Peter’s description in 2 Peter 3:10-18.
v. 11 – live Christly or Holy
v. 12-13 – live expectingly
v. 14 – live in purity
v. 15-17 – live knowingly
v. 18 – live growingly

Now back to the text – 1 Thess. 5
Read v. 3-4
We find secondly that the day of the Lord is not the only destined day. The Day of Deadly Deception is also destined.
Let’s examine just this point. – (v. 9 not destined wrath)
Turn to 2 Thess. 2:1-12
1. The Day of the Lord will be a day of great deception
Therefore, know what you believe.
Turn to Luke 21:7-9 = deception
:25-26 = danger
2. Day of the Lord will be a day of great danger
Turn to Matt. 24:4 –Same description – v. 4-5 = deception
v. 6-10 = danger
Now look at v. 15-16 (-21 – wrath) – abomination of desolation Judea – Sabbath = Jews tribulation.
Turn to Daniel 9:24-27 – wrath
70 weeks or 490 years. 69 weeks = 483 years
From 453 BC decree. rebuilt to cross = 483 years
7 left for Jews
Back to text – 1 Thess. 5:3-4
They – Their – They You – You
v. 9 – not destined wrath. Therefore live what you believe
