Victories Are Dangerous

When I think of July, I think of Freedom, Independence, the great Victories that America has experienced. I am thankful to be an American and to live in America. Sometimes, victories are dangerous. But if America and the people in America do not wake up and smell the roses we are going to experience one of our greatest defeats. What I see happening to America is that it is regressing instead of progressing. We are allowing the tail of the dog to wag the dog of its Spiritual Morals and Values. Yes we have won many battles and wars, yes we have built a strong financial economy, and yes we are a world leader but it, when you view yourself better than you really are, is when you have trouble.
The Church
Think with me for just a minute. When is a championship team most likely to lose a game? Right after it’s biggest victory. Players become overconfident, they relax and let down their guard, and suddenly they are upset. This happens in the physical sense and also the Spiritual. What I believe is going on in American and also in our churches is people don’t think this can happen to us. Christians and America Wake Up. When is a Christian most likely to be defeated? Right after he has been on a spiritual high, he becomes easy prey for Satan.
America has been blessed and has been riding a financial high, Stock Market, Jobs, Unemployment, we have been doing so good, then bang here comes the Coronavirus, and almost puts America at a standstill. Christians God has blessed us so great also. But remember, when is a Christian most likely to be defeated? Right after he has been on a spiritual high, they also become easy prey for Satan.
Biblical Lessons
There are many examples found in the Bible of people who fail after great victories in their life. After Samson single-handedly slew a thousand Philistines with the jaw bone of a donkey, then he laid his head is the lap of Delilah, and his head was shaved and he lost his power. When David was at the pinnacle of his political glory, he fell in love with another man’s wife. Immediately following Jesus Baptism after hearing the voice of God from heaven, Jesus was led into the wilderness where He was tempted by the devil. And of course, when Peter told Jesus that he would never deny Him, Peter became vulnerable to Satan’s attack and he too failed. Folks I can see the same thing fixing to happen to us if we fail to wake up.
The Bible says in 1 Cor 10:12 “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he falls.” The Bible also tells us in Prov. 16:18 “Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” The evil one is in the world today. Satan is doing a battle with our minds to make us comfortable with evil instead of good. And this usually happens after some great experience or some spiritual victory in our lives.
Christian Walk
What we have to understand as Christians is that you never have it made with a Christian walk with the Lord. There is never a time we can unbuckle our armor, lay down our sword, and take R. and R. No matter how close we may have walked with Jesus, no matter how clear our perception of the truth may have been, no matter how sincere a confession we may have made, we are always vulnerable to backsliding or regressing to a lower spiritual level. Guard your mind, guard your values, and guard your life, because victories are dangerous in the Christ Walk.
Words of Wisdom:
- Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men. It is the spirit of men who follow and of the man who leads that gains the victory. George S. Patton
- Victory belongs to the most persevering. N/A
- Many times, we miss out on God’s best because we give up too soon. We don’t realize how close we are to victory. N/A
- There is no fool like a careless gambler who starts taking victory for granted. Hunter S. Thompson
Something To Think About:
The greatest battles of the world are not fought with guns, and bombs or by combat soldiers on the battlefield of this world. They are fought in the minds of people. The mind is the oldest, most common battlefield known to the human race. Ever since God provided Adam and Eve clear instructions on how to live happy, successful lives, a fierce battle has been raging over who will control man’s thought processes, Satan or God.
