Jesus Shows up and Shows Off

As Director, I’ve often said my favorite part of this job is getting a front-row seat to watch Jesus show up and show off! I love getting to share these stories of His faithfulness with others.
One such story happened recently. We got a text from a mom needing formula for her baby. I’m going to be honest with you: When that request came in, I cringed a little inside. I hate saying no to anyone who asks, but we don’t have much formula on our shelves, and there are so many different kinds out there. (We don’t keep a lot on our shelves because we don’t want it to expire before it’s used.) The odds of us having what she needed were pretty slim. I stopped by the Center to check and see if we might possibly have what she was asking for. Wouldn’t you know, we had a HUGE can of exactly the brand and kind she needed? The mom was so excited, and I was quick to point out to her how this must have been a God thing. I love how He’s into the small details, don’t you? This mama will feel seen and provided for, all because of one can of formula.
Something else struck me about this story: We have so many people donate physical items to the Center. Most days we pull into the parking lot, and donations are waiting for us on the doorstep. I wonder if people know when they give a pack of diapers, or a car seat, or a can of formula….that very thing may be exactly what someone needs. It may be the thing communicating to them God sees them and their unique situation. Never underestimate the power of a simple gift.
