Something to Think About – “What Does God Want Most?”

The Bible says in 1 John 4:16; “We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in His love. God is love, and all who live in love, live in God, and God lives in them.”
Let me ask you a question. Why did God make us? Most Christians would answer this question by saying that He made us to serve Him. But that’s not true! Think about it folks. If God really wanted servants, He could have used His angels, or He could have used any animal on this planet and they would be doing a much better job serving Him than we mere mortals are doing.
Do you recall in Mark 12:29-30 when the scribes asked Jesus what’s the first commandment, that He responded by saying; “The first of all the commandments is, Hear O Israel; the Lord our God is one God. And you shall love the Lord your God with all of your heart, and with all of your soul, and with all of your mind and with all of your strength; this is the first commandment.” So, the first commandment is not for us to do something for God. The first commandment is for us to simply LOVE God. He made you and He made me in His own likeness and His own image so that we could have sweet fellowship with Him, and so that we could praise Him for who He is! SO, what does God want most from us? He simply wants us to love Him. Now, if you are truly loving Him, other things are going to be evident in your life. If you are truly loving Him, you will have a desire to serve Him. You will have a desire to be in His house. You will have a desire to pray. You will have a desire to have a quiet time with Him in the mornings. You will have a desire to reach out to others with His love. And you will have a desire to be in His Word.
But the thing that God wants most from you and me today, and every day, is to simply LOVE Him! How about spending some time today and in the days to come meditating on this wonderful thought? It’s something for each of us to think about.
What God wants most from each of us is to LOVE Him! Let’s spend some time today doing what God wants each of us to do most!
