The Divine Helper

Once upon a time, at night, the conversation between the incarnated King of the Universe and a teacher of the Law Nicodemus took place in the country of Israel. During the conversation, Nicodemus was told that he must be born again to enter the Kingdom of God. Then a teacher became a student when he asked the question: “How can these things be?” (John 3:9 KJV). More than two thousand years later, the vast majority of theologians still have the same question unanswered. However, some minority students of God have received their answers already. They obtained it by studying the subject of the Holy Spirit – the third person of the Godhead.

Many people today desire to have a strong relationship with God and receive Eternal life as a reward. Different religions teach different things about how to live forever. The Christians, however, discovered through the words of Jesus the only way to Heaven: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6 KJV). So, Jesus came to this world, lived as a human, served the people by leading them on the way to salvation, and was crucified as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He is risen and interceding on our behalf in Heaven now. Knowing this, how can a person find the way of salvation today when Christ is not in the world? The answer is simple. It can be done only through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Right before Jesus departed from this world, He assured His disciples: ”I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” (John 14:16–17 KJV). He also said: The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” (John 14:26 KJV). So, the Comforter, or Helper, is the Holy Ghost promised by Jesus Christ Himself for our salvation.

Imagine how powerful it is! The Holy Spirit is a part of the Trinity(Matthew 28:19), He plays the most significant role in forming the Scripture by being Its Author (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21), and the Holy Spirit sustained Jesus in His earthly ministry (John 5:30; Luke 4:14), and He works with us today!

The Holy Spirit is given to all Christ’s followers; He convicts us of sin and righteousness; leads us to all truth; leads us to peace through repentance and forgiveness of our sins; inspires us to pray; writes God’s Holy Law in our hearts, and gives the courage to testify about Christ.

Dear Reader, have you received the Holy Spirit in your life? Have you been baptized by the Holy Spirit? If not, then do not delay any longer. Come to the Father in prayer and ask for the Holy Spirit. God desires for you to receive the Holy Spirit. He is actually eager to give it! (Luke 11:13). May your sincere prayer be precious and acceptable to our loving Heavenly Father! Amen.
